Hello - Welcome to Gilruth Designs. I design and make handmade beaded jewerly.
The kinds of jewelry I make are:
Beadwoven (hand sewn, without a loom), including herringbone, peyote, brick, netting stitches
Strung
Wire wrapped
Pearl knotted/strung (usually on silk beading cord)
The materials I use include:
Seed beads (Czech, Japanese primarily)
Stone beads (examples are jasper, turquoise, smoky quartz)
Glass accent beads, including Swarovski, Preciosa and Cristazzi crystal, Czech pressed glass, Chinese faceted beads
Pearls (freshwater, cultured pearls; colors other than white/creams, peach and lavendar are purchased dyed)
Coral (dyed - nature doesn't produce colored coral unfortunately)
Pendants of various types including glass, metal, beaded
Metal spacers
Metal clasps
925 Sterling Silver Wire and Gold Filled Wire
Stringing Materials: Silk Beading Cord, Nymo, C-Lon, Fireline, Power Pro, Stringing Wire, Elastic Stretch Beading Cord
All ear wires/posts are 925 sterling silver or gold filled. Some parts of the clasps are handmade from these metals as well.
My skill level is constantly evolving as I discover and learn new stitches, techniques. I hope to learn right angle weave at some point but there is only so much a lady can accomplish and still be good at everything else she does. In addition to keeping my skills current, I am in the process of developing seed bead cuff patterns.
